Google Shutting down Google Reader until early July, and subscribers will be able to save their data using the tool Takeout.
Last spring, Google ceased operations iGoogle, Google mini and other services as part of the initiative (spring cleaning) to focus its efforts on more important projects.
This time, it was the turn of Google Reader and seven more services shut down, reaching a total of 70 projects that Google has stopped supporting, from 2011 until today.
The other services that shuts the ear is Building Maker, Cloud Connect, the Widgets for UiApp and GUI Builder, Search API Shopping and CalDAV API. Google has also online made it known that it will no longer provide updates on Snap seed Desktop for Mac and Windows.
Following these announcements, the CEO Larry Page seems to put into practice the promise of Google”s efforts to focus on fewer things.
The reactions of the users, of course, especially when hearing the news about Google Reader was intense with many disapprove of this move by the search giant.
