Since the internet came along, our lives have changed.
This phenomenon has influenced almost every single aspect of our lives:
- The way we pay bills
- The way we shop
- The way we read and learn
- The way we watch TV
- The way we spy on our friends
In fact, the list of how the internet made our days more fun, more bearable or in some cases more difficult, is endless.
I remember when I was a kid, admittedly a long time ago, waiting for my favourite Christmas movie to be shown on TV. But these days, you are just a Netflix away from any series or movies you might want to watch.
The same goes for going to the bank. Whereas before we had to queue and wait to be served, these days you can pay all your bills from your phone! Well, of course, sometimes you might run into some security issues and yup, your days might just as easily be ruined by the modern technology as it would be made better.
Another way the internet has changed things is in how we visit casinos, and the boom in online casinos made me investigate what the top casino games are. My research shows that UK players spend most of their time enjoying the following five games:
Number ONE: Blackjack
No surprise here! Blackjack is one of the few games that does not rely purely on chance. A player with a mathematical mind can gain a real advantage here, and everybody knows the magical 21!
Blackjack in online casinos can be played against a virtual machine or you can visit a live casino and enjoy playing against a real-life dealer.
Naturally, Blackjack is connected with a certain glamour and mystique, as this game is heavily featured in many movies, with Rain Man immediately coming to mind.
Number TWO: Roulette
This is one of the very few casino games I tried myself! Roulette is fun, unpredictable and exciting – at least in real life casinos! So, I really wondered how much fun would be had playing this casino classic online.
I visited a roulette section in unnamed online casino and I was a bit spoiled for choice!
I never knew there is such a selection! There are:
- American Roulette
- European Roulette
- French Roulette
- Multi wheel Roulette
- Double ball Roulette
- Lightning Roulette
- Live Roulette
And I am not sure if I have named them all!
Surprisingly, online roulette is super enjoyable! The best part is, you can play for free, just for fun and with no risk of losing a cent unlike in a normal casino establishment!
Number THREE: Slots
I must be honest, I never warmed up to the one-armed bandits found in land-based casinos or pubs.
But according to the internet, slots are one of the most popular games ever!
So, for the sake of research, I spent some time playing online slots. Once again, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety offered. I personally liked the movies/TV themed slots such as Titanic, Star Trek or Jurassic Park the most.
The imagination of the games creators is endless!
I am pretty sure that if you like real life slots machines for their colours and flashing lights, you would love playing online slots as the noises, the colours, the lights and the graphics are incomparably more appealing and alluring.
I saw many slots with music themes as well and I was a bit disappointed not to see one with the currently trendy Queen, but maybe this is yet to come.
Number FOUR: Poker
This is probably the best-known casino game. Poker is featured in many movies from James Bond’s Casino Royale to the recent cinema hit Molly’s Game.
Poker is one of the few casino games played not against the dealer but instead against other players at your table. This is a game of skill and heavily controlled facial expressions, since every good opposing player is looking for that tell which will give him or her a winning edge.
Poker became the first internet casino hit, and around the turn of the millennium, online poker rooms were filled with good and not so good players from around the world. It all changed after 15th April 2011, the day known as Black Friday, when the US government took legal action against several online poker sites under the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA) of 2006.
Plenty of innocent online players lost significant bankrolls when the U.S. government raided and seized the URLs and funds from several online poker providers. This resulted in more than 70 closed bank accounts across 14 countries and hundreds of thousands of online players lost millions of dollars. Although many providers shifted their activities to countries where online gaming is legal, such as Malta or Costa Rica, the poker world was never been the same.
And finally, our number FIVE: Baccarat
No casino games list would be complete without classic card game Baccarat. Baccarat is a comparing card game played between two hands, the player and the dealer. Each Baccarat game has three possible outcomes: either player or banker/dealer wins or there is a tie.
There are three popular variants of the game: punto banco, baccarat chemin de fer and banque. Although it doesn’t have the fame of poker or blackjack, baccarat is a game of glamour which I have a feeling is due for a renaissance.
So, there you have it! The top five casino games. I hope you will enjoy your time trying your luck in some of the UK online casinos sites as much as I did during my research.
